Together We Stand
By Emily Llewellyn
Miri walked through the halls, always on her guard for Kenzie and her cronies. The resident popular-yet-mean girls were always picking on her because she was so small. There! Miri caught a glimpse of them, easily picked out in a crowd because of their crazy amounts of makeup. She bobbed and weaved through the crowd, but as usual, she was too slow. The mean girls broke free of the crowd and surrounded her.
Kenzie jeered, “Hey, midget girl! How’s the weather down there? Wet with teardrops?” Her crew cackled with evil glee.
“Shut up!” Miri yelled, surprising them. They stepped back, but recovered quickly. Kenzie sneered. “Really, Fly? Why don’t you bug off before I call the exterminator? Oh wait, I am the exterminator! Say goodbye, bug.”
Miri tried to duck out of the circle. She tripped. A lone tear rolled down her face. Then, suddenly, someone was helping her up.
“Are you okay?” the girl asked her. “I’m Aviana, by the way, and this is Luna.”
Luna and Aviana grabbed Miri’s hands. Luna said, “Kenzie, why are you bullying Miri? She doesn’t deserve it.” Kenzie just stood there, startled that her reign of terror was being challenged.
Aviana continued, “Yeah, I think you aren’t worth our time. Goodbye!” They walked away with Miri between them.
Once they turned the corner, Luna turned to Miri. “How would you like to be in a club with us? An anti-bullying club.”
“Sure!” Miri answered eagerly. “Let’s call it Together We Stand.”
So, Luna, Aviana, and Miri formed Together We Stand, and helped out many kids that were being bullied. They joined the ranks, and through sheer numbers forced Kenzie into submission. They changed the world, all because of a little girl named Miri.
