“Party In the USA!” One of the greatest hits written by the prodigy, Miley Cyrus. There are thousands of other hits that leave you in a cheery mood for the rest of day. Isn’t it also great to listen to them while working? I know I love to listen to music any chance I can. Lots of kids like listening to music while doing work. Some teachers disagree, and argue that it is just a distraction. Music causes joyful vibes that change your mood, it will help improve work, and most of all, makes school work more interesting. Listening to music will help you stay in a good mood for the rest of the day. Upbeat songs just make you want to dance and sing along. When you are working, you aren’t your happiest. Music can definitely take away all those negative vibes that are keeping you from working. It can make your work more interesting and will keep you on track for work. A 2015 study found that when it came to concentration, “natural” sounds, such as waves at a beach also improved subjects’ ability to stay focused along with the use of music. If you have a repetitive job, it is recommended to start listening to music. A series of experiments has investigated the relationship between the playing of background music during the performance of repetitive work. Assembly line workers showed signs of increased happiness and efficiency while listening to music. The result of these tests have shown strongly assist the idea of music improving concentration. There are many different types of music that can help you in certain situations. For example, classical music can be beneficial for numerous reasons. Classical music has been shown to decrease blood pressure, boost memory, spark creativity, reduce stress, relieve pain, and help put you to sleep. Those are just 6 of the many advantages of classical music. As you read in the previous paragraph, pop music can help boost your mood and it can help you become better at your work. Listening to songs you are already familiar with can help you stay focused as well; you won’t have to worry about singing the right words because you already know them. You will just tune out the music and it will become another background noise helping you work. The less you focus on words, the more you focus on work. Music can impact a student’s work ethic and concentration during class. Adding music into the curriculum, can change the perspective of the students learning. By putting a popular song they know into a lesson, they can understand the analysis, or teaching better because they are familiar with the song. Another way to add it is by studying songs from different countries and cultures. From studying songs from different cultures, we can learn more about that ethnicity. For instance, we are learning about the Holocaust in Germany. I have heard that in the concentration camps, they started to create music to cope with the bad times. Music helped them keep their humanity. This adds more interesting information to the subject and doesn’t make it depressing. Many experiments have been tested on students, and are resulting in higher test grades. On big assesment like SAT’s, music relieved lots of high schoolers and caused them to get better grades. Students also involved in music classes, have a better chance of getting scholarships and awards. All in all, music does affect your daily lifestyle, especially mine. Music is a go-to when it comes to relaxing, working, and destressing. We need it to leave us in good moods, help improve your work, and make your dreary days or work more interesting. “If music wasn’t a part of my life, I wouldn’t know what to do half of the time.
