Dear State Representative Alex Charlton,
Hello! My name is Angelina DiLorenzo. I am an attendee at the middle school in Springfield, PA. I am writing to you today to discuss Harrisburg signing onto the National Popular Vote system. As you know, the NPV (National Popular Vote) is a system that was made to help manifest agreement towards all people during the election. For numerous reasons, Harrisburg ought to take the plunge to support the NPV.
In the last few years, an abundant amount of people have noticed that the Electoral College is no longer the right organization for the U.S. but, they have noticed that the National Popular Vote is. Quoting from “Fair Vote”, with the “National Popular Vote Interstate Compact, states choose to allocate their electoral votes to the candidate who wins the most popular votes in all 50 states and DC.” (National Popular Vote) Moreover, “The Constitution gives states full control over how they allocate their electoral votes.” (National Popular Vote) Throughout the nation, many have found the NPV. It allows the people of the country to finally contribute to who the future president will be. Furthermore, The Washington Post shares, “While the Electoral College would technically still be in effect, the agreement among the states to award their electoral votes to the national popular vote winner…” (Blake). The NPV keeps the Electoral College in place, but voting for the next president of America is in people’s hands.
I‘m sure you must be one busy man, but please take the time to consider the information in my email. Citizens like me rely on you and your support. Please vote in favor of the National Popular Vote. Thank you for your time and service.
Sincerely,
Angelina DiLorenzo
